YES Network Youth Leadership Forum 2010

The 2010-2011 YES Network program was kicked off in October with the 2nd annual YES Network Youth Leadership Forum. Approximately 70 students and 8 teachers came out for the event. It was a wonderful day of learning and sharing.
The day was split into two parts:

Morning Session - Leadership Skills Development
Students started the day with games and icebreakers. The session allowed students from different schools to meet and get to know each other. For the second half of the morning, students attended sessions on professional skills development. The Skills Workshops were developed and delivered by ED 302 from the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. The skills workshops included topics such as communication skills, how to deal with government, fundraising, media relations, marketing, research skills, project planning, decision making and how to run a meeting. Each student at the opportunity to attend two of these sessions throughout the morning with the hope they will take these skills back to their schools and apply them in their own action projects.

Afternoon Session - Open Space Dialogue w/ David NobleDavid Noble facilitated an afternoon Open Space Dialogue with students and the community members. Students were given the opportunity to lead discussion groups on topics they were interested in. There were great topics provided by the students and some pretty engaging discussions. It was a really neat afternoon!

I have attached some photos from the events of the day! Thanks to all those that came out! It was a great day!

Til next time,
